MLT Drives offers the two basic solar panel battery charger options that are available: MPPT regulators, and three stage chargers as part of their renewable energy solutions. These can be described as follows:
1. MPPT Solar Regulator
This is an intelligent device that regulates the voltage over the panels to ensure that it is always operating at its MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking). If you have made the investment of a large solar panel array (1kw or more) then it would be wise to have the necessary equipment that would enable your panels to operate at full capacity. The MPPT regulator also intelligently executes a three stage battery charging scheme for optimal efficiency.
2. Three Stage Solar Charger
The simple three stage charger is a more economic choice for customers who have a smaller panel set. It is more cost-efficient to purchase a simple three stage battery charger which has no MPPT control, while you still have the benefit of an optimum three stage battery charging scheme.
